NGENZI / BARAHIRA brought to the criminal court of justice by the investigating judges
On Friday 30 May, investigating judges published a commited order about NGENZI /BARAHIRA cases. As a consequence, they will be accused of “genocide and crimes against humanity” following the conclusions of the prosecutor’s investigation. Now, we are waiting for the date of the next trial in the criminal court, the 2nd after Simbikangwa’s trial, convicted of crimes against humanity and genocide. We must point out that a partial submission has been required about “the joint arrangement in order to commit a genocide”. The civil plaintiffs have ten days to appeal the “partial submission” before the court. This decision fills us with joy and is an encouragement to go on, whenever we can, and bring to court suspects of genocide living on the French territory. It’s the second time that people suspected of taking part in the Tutsi genocide, are brought in front of a criminal court of justice.
Since the section, specialized in crime of genocide has been created, in the TGI in Paris, we must say that French justice is underway. But we mustn’t forget that many other files are still investigated and we are waiting for other decisions taken by the judges.
Charles TWAGIRA and Claude MUHAYIMANA are in jail. MUNYESHYAKA and BUCYIBARUTA’s files should progress in the following months. There are many others that we would like to hear about. This new decision, taken by judges, is another reason not to give up and go on with our fight for justice, in memory of all the victims, families or friends.
We rely on the support of everyone to carry out our commitment.
