Kangura comes back to the Paris Assize.
The last day was marked by an unfortunate “incident.” While the witness Eric Gillet, lawyer to the Bar of Brussels, finished his testimony, a Pascal Simbikangwa’s lawyer, master Alexandra Bourgeot short of arguments, dared to address the witness as follows: “You had some intimate relations with Rwandans! “Mid-question, half statement. Protests on the bench plaintiffs, on the side of the Advocate General and murmurs in the room. And add, with some malice: “You had a Rwandan girlfriend! “Not to say Tutsi!
How to endure such insinuations in a criminal court, where a genocide suspect who shared as deadly ideas as those exposed in the newspaper Kangura (# 6 of 6 December 1990), which have been at the center of talks during the last two weeks… ? For the record, here are the first two “commandments muhutu”
- Every Hutu should know that a Umututsikazi [a Tutsi woman] where it is, works to balance his Tutsi ethnicity. Therefore is a traitor any Hutu who marries a Tutsi woman, who makes of a Tutsi woman his concubine, who hire a Tutsi woman as his secretary or his protected.
- Every Hutu should know that our girls Bahutukazi [a Hutu woman] are more worthy and more conscientious in their role as woman, wife and mother. Are they not beautiful, good secretaries and more honest!
This is not without reminding us also about Pierre Péan in his book “Black Furies, White Liars” (not to be read!). Here is an excerpt of the letter I sent him on January 5th of 2007:
It is therefore normal that Master Alexandra Bourgeot’s words have shocked the room, President, lawyers, general counsel and public. A reminder to her dignity could have be done with greater firmness. These words are of the same vein that those which led to the genocide. Let us hope that this was only a slip and that the lesson is understood by the defense. In the Assizes, as eanywhere else, all is not permitted, and perhaps even less in the mouth of a woman!
