Simbikangwa trial : February 7th, 2014

The fourth day is still devoted to witnesses context. Jacques Sémelin, a specialist of mass crimes, opens the day. We will have a lecture, accessible to all and admired by the Court President. Addressing the jury: “A heavy responsibility rests on your shoulders. It is said that mass crimes are unthinkable ? Instead, they are too thinkable. We are often told not to try to understand! But to understand is not to excuse the perpetrators. Now we can not understand everything : everything must be done to understand, but there will always be something that will withstand our understanding.” Jacques …

Simbikangwa trial – 6th of february

The day begins with the testimony of Ms. Anne Soussy, medical examiner responsible for the medical examination of the accused. His report will bring little revelations about Pascal Simbikangwa. The only interesting question was whether he could use crutches to get around. Without being completely categorical, rather it suggests that it is possible for someone who has enough strength. This does not seem to be the case that Simbikangwa said he never tried. We do not know much more. Continuing from where we had stopped the day before by the issues of defense lawyers about the resume of Simbikangwa. Will …

After CNED, now Canal+ lands in turn

When issuing Canal + ” The landing ” aired last night, some actors have apparently dropped. Not having seen the show personally, I look at the reactions of some viewers who expressed their incomprehension and disgust. Apparently, one can be scandalized! Pretext to laugh, actors have indulged in dubious “jokes” about the Tutsi genocide perpetrated in Rwanda in 1994. Pretending to parody France 2 program “Voyage en terres inconnues” (“Go into the unknown”), they have devised a … trip to Rwanda. Believing to be funny, an actress saw fit to share his difficulties to adopt an orphan “because everybody knows …

Favorable opinion of the Court of Appeal of Paris for two extraditions

This Wednesday, November 13, 2013 could be a historic day in regard to the extradition to Rwanda. Chamber of instruction of the Court of Appeal of Paris has just given a favorable opinion on the extraditon of Claude Muhayimana and Innocent Musabyimana to Rwanda, following the opinion of the prosecutor. This is not the first time that the Court of Appeal rules for extradition, but this is a first for the Court of Appeal of Paris. The President was however careful after announcing that it was a favorable part, thereby excluding “ordinary crimes ” that the defense could of course …

The …

The Director of CNED answers …

We just received today the response from the Director of CNED, Serge Bergamelli, concerning the document in which was wrongly mentioned the “genocide of Hutus by the Tutsi.” He had previously been sent a copy of the letter we sent to the Minister of Education, Mr. Vincent Peillon. Let me transcribe the response received today by email, so that you can judge for yourself… But for me it is a response a minima, where cannot be found neither the words nor the accents that the Director of school education CNED, Mr. Frederic Artaud, had yesterday by telephone, saying he “had …

Vénuste Nyombayire indicted

An AFP report tells us that Vénuste Nyombayire has been indicted on the complaint that the CPCR had filed against him in December 2011. Released on bail, the prosecution appealed. The new indictment can only applaud all those who are fighting for justice for the victims of the genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994. Vénuste Nyombayire continued especially for having executed employees and young orphans of the Village SOS Gikongoro. The decision of the French court shows that the SCRC , by filing a complaint , had good reasons to do so : the judges have forged their …
